Postdoc positions in theoretical neuroscience and brain-inspired machine learning

August 8, 2019

Postdoctoral positions are available in Cengiz Pehlevan’s theoretical neuroscience group at Harvard University. We are looking for candidates with strong analytical and numerical skills, and backgrounds in (theoretical) neuroscience, applied mathematics, physics, engineering, computer science, or related fields.

Our group seeks to understand the algorithms of the brain and their neural implementation. Current interests include, but are not limited to, unsupervised learning of sensory representations, reinforcement learning of motor skills, decision making and brain-inspired machine learning. For recent publications, see pehlevan.seas.harvard.edu. Successful candidates will join a vibrant community of researchers at Harvard and take part in collaborations with experimental labs across the campus.

The position is funded for multiple years, with an initial one-year appointment and expectation of extension contingent on satisfactory progress. To apply, please email a short statement of research interests, a CV, and the contact information of at least two references to Cengiz Pehlevan (cpehlevan@seas.harvard.edu), with the subject line “Theory Postdoctoral Fellow”. Review of applications will begin immediately.
